The late Easter this year and also the clash with Badminton caused a reduction in both the horse
and public attendance on the day. Being so late in April meant that the ground was firmer than usual throughout the
country and this was the main factor in the reduction in entries for both meetings.
However although income on the gate on Easter Monday was down on last year it was appreciably
up for the second meeting confirming thoughts that having it on a Sunday increases attendance. Another pleasing
point of observation was the number of runners from Dorset and Somerset, with one entry from the Ledbury in the veterans
race which they then won. Overall net priofit was similar to previous years allowing a contribution to be made to the
hunt funds.
